Shortsighted experts

In December 2010, as every year, a large French financial newspaper consulted sixteen experts in economics from the most prestigious investment banks in order to obtain their forecasts on the evolution of the CAC 40 (French stock index) in 2011: everyone, without exception, responded that the rate would increase in 2011 from 5 to 20%. We know the results: at the end of 2011, the CAC 40 had fallen to 3,100, when it should have been between 4,100 and 4,700 according to our experts.
